About us
From The Root (FTR), a neuroscience (brain-based) & trauma-informed approach to the management of learning and behavior for teachers, school administrators, parents/caregivers, & children. FTR is a self-regulation program rooted in neuroscience, child development research, and psychology. Our program teaches adults to self-regulate and foster the optimal capacity of learning environments for children through safety and emotional connectedness, optimizing the ability to problem-solve and utilize executive function skills. Adults and children learn to manage their emotions, thinking, behavior, and learning, empowering ALL to reach fulfilling lives. It's an evidenced-based trauma-informed approach working from the root of the problems causing undesirable behaviors and outcomes that often in most cases are only treated based on the symptoms of the problems. FTR’s social and emotional learning programs design and target areas that play a central role in a school’s approach to promoting prosocial behavior using emotional intelligence as its foundation. The focus is on learning from an educational neuroscience approach to the management of learning and behavior which increases social-emotional intelligence. The interconnectedness of educational practices and educational neuroscience are the building blocks in learning. Understanding the interrelated interactions between the biological process and education provides a new interdisciplinary approach to learning and teaching. By doing so, we work from the root, treating the needs of children to close the gap between social-emotional intelligence, teaching, and learning.
